Shop-front doorway or balcony still for rent on Colombo Street this afternoon
Looking at unofficial shop-front first-floor doorways or balconies on Colombo Street this afternoon for First Randoli. Can we still rent a step from a keeper, or is that all gone already. Not asking about hotel rooftops or leftover paid stands.

A few keepers still let a small group onto a doorway or balcony mid-afternoon if you ask politely and keep clear of dancers later. The densest front shops fill first — try one street back or a quieter shopfront before 4.
Do not expect a fixed menu of spots after lunch. Ask once, accept no, and move on. Blocking the pavement to haggle is what gets you waved away.
If a shop says no, the police info tent will not assign you a doorway either — it is informal and shop-by-shop.
