Thinking a short tuk to Peradeniya gardens for about two hours then back by afternoon before tonight. Realistic pacing. Not Knuckles half-day jeep, and not partner Sigiriya versus nap fight.

Doable if you keep it to a focused walk and leave before you get museum-tired. Agree a fixed tuk fare both ways or use an app. Be back with time for food and rest before 7:00 PM standing.
