Plan is to shoulder-carry a small kid for the opening ten minutes of First Randoli only, then set them down so adult legs last. Sensible. Not stroller park-versus-fold and not cheap binoculars for kids.

Opening ten minutes on the shoulder then down is a solid plan — you get them the highlight without exhausting the adult for the whole cortege. Agree the handoff with the second adult before the crush.

Skip shoulder-carry during the whip-cracker stretch if the kid is startled by the sound.

Wear the daypack on the front or leave it at feet so the shoulder is free for the kid.
