Pidurangala if you want a view of the rock without the full ticket and the full heat. Sigiriya if the frescoes and the paws are the point. One climb. Start early. Water zipped. I will not invent a 23 Aug closure or a skip-the-line cousin. Tickets from the desk.

We did Pidurangala at 6:30, looked at Sigiriya, sat breakfast. Fine. Elder still speaking to us.

If the elder is shaky, skip both and do Dambulla cave with cover. Steps, but shade.
