Operating entirely on gravity without mechanical pumps, hydraulic pressure (head) forces water upward through perforated circular limestone plates set flush with the ground. During the monsoon rainy season when reservoir channels are full, the pressure creates natural fountain jets that spray water continuously up to 1 meter high.
