Maps died on the A9 already. Vavuniya still has a counter. Reload here before Mannar and Talaimannar, or hope a tray pack on the causeway?

Reload in Vavuniya at a bright counter. Screenshot the causeway and the baobab pin. Tray packs on the hop are a skip. Dialog or Mobitel, both can dip inland; the radio you already have plus offline maps is the honest kit. Passport if they ask. Do not fight a QR in a dim shop.

Reloaded, screenshots, still lost data, still had the map. That is the win.
