Solo woman dining alone Sri Lanka Awkward Safe

Very safe and increasingly common. Solo female dining at cafes, restaurants, and hotels totally normal in tourist zones (Colombo, Galle, Ella, Mirissa). Rural or very local restaurants may draw curious looks but no hostility. Waiters attentive without being pushy.

Comfort tips: bring a book or use phone, sit at a bar or window seat if the vibe feels off, choose restaurants with mixed local-foreign clientele, arrive early evening (before very local male-dominated late-night eating). Confidence goes a long way — order with certainty, tip well.
