India had constant staring, comments, uncomfortable. Not looking for that again. Is Sri Lanka the same or different?

Massively different. Been living here 5 years. As a solo female you'll notice: warmth without intrusion, curiosity without staring, offers of help without expectation. Sri Lankan women are more visible in daily life than in some parts of India - working, driving, running businesses. Foreign solo women get treated like tourists, not spectacles. That said: still cover shoulders/knees at temples, don't wander alone at night in unfamiliar areas, and the usual small precautions. But it's genuinely one of the more comfortable solo female destinations in South Asia.

^ ditto. Been solo here many times. Sri Lanka is closer to Sri Lanka than to India - very different vibe. You'll relax within a day.
