Safe solo trails: Little Adam's Peak (Ella, populated, marked), Ella Rock (day trip, popular), Pekoe Trail sections (marked and used, but check current conditions), Nine Arch Bridge walks. Avoid solo: Adam's Peak off-season, deep Knuckles, remote Sinharaja trails, Wilpattu unsupervised.

Best practices: tell hostel/guesthouse your route + expected return time, carry offline maps, physical whistle, phone with power bank, headtorch, first aid, water. Check trail conditions daily — landslides possible in wet months. If uncertain, hire a guide even for popular trails.
