We are on the south coast, not in Kandy, and showers are named for Galle and Matara today. Fort walk, or stay under cover.

A Fort walk between bursts is normal August; keep one indoor cafe as a duck-in and skip the ramparts if lightning starts.

We did the Fort this morning in light showers and ducked into a cafe twice; walls and shops were still worth it, we just skipped the open rampart stretch.

Covered streets inside the Fort still feel like a visit; you do not need a hard clear sky for the walls.
