Sri Lanka urbex opportunities: (1) Old Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation building (Torrington, partially abandoned). (2) Some old colonial-era mansions in Cinnamon Gardens (private property - respect boundaries). (3) Abandoned tea factories in hill country (Nuwara Eliya, Bandarawela area - many closed, some accessible with permission from estate owner). (4) Old railway signal boxes (Colombo Fort area, decommissioned). (5) Abandoned bunkers north (Jaffna area - civil war remnants, permit + guide advised). (6) Old warehouses Pettah + Fort. Etiquette: never trespass, always ask permission, avoid photos with people identifiable, don't damage anything, follow local urbex Facebook groups for safety updates.

Also: some heritage properties (Number 11 Bawa house, Lunuganga) allow serious architecture photographers with appointments. Different from urbex but similar aesthetic. Book via foundation directly. Insurance situation cleaner.

Old tea factories are gold - massive rooms, industrial equipment, plants overgrowing. Sri Lanka Tea Board records list abandoned factories - some available for photo shoots with modest permit fee. Legal + insured route.

The abandoned tea factory angle is exactly what I was missing. Been researching wrong - going legit through Tea Board records. Following @colombourbex now. This changes my whole trip plan.
