Anuradhapura hotel options: (1) Ulagalla Resort (about 20 min from ancient city - Uga Escapes luxury, private pool villas, USD 300-500/night, best comfort). (2) Palm Garden Village (colonial-era grounds, historic feel, USD 100-200). (3) Hotel Alakamanda (mid-range, close to sacred city, USD 80-150). (4) Heritance Aluvihare (technically Matale but heritage). For genuine 'view of sacred sites': dawn walks in the ancient city from any nearby hotel work better than any 'view' hotel claim - Ruwanwelisaya lit at dawn/dusk is unforgettable. Ulagalla for comfort + privacy.
Sacred city (with all major dagobas) covers massive area - no hotel has all-encompassing view. Pick hotel for comfort, do sunrise walks by tuk-tuk or bicycle to see the dagobas in early light. Palm Garden Village has walking distance to Sri Maha Bodhi.
