Sri Lanka best Ayurveda for weight loss - do these programs actually work?
3 Answers from travellers
Real weight-loss Ayurveda programs exist. Barberyn Reef and Barberyn Beach (Weligama) run structured 14-21 day programs with dietary control, herbal medicines, Panchakarma-based detox including Basti (medicated enemas), specialized yoga, dawn walks. Realistic loss: 2-5 kg in 14 days depending on starting weight and adherence. Not fast, but structural. Cost USD 2000-4000 for 14-day full-inclusive program. Any 'weight loss retreat' shorter than 10 nights is marketing. Panchakarma minimum meaningful duration is 14 days.
Also: Siddhalepa Ayurveda Health Resort (Bentota) runs weight-management specific programs, similar structure. Realistic expectation: not dramatic single-visit transformation - the value is habit reset, digestion improvement, and a 3-6 month path forward. Some visitors return annually.
