Buddhi Batiks Colombo (workshops offered), Dudley Silva's Batiks in Ambalangoda (family workshop, drop-in classes), Jayamali Batik Studio in Kandy area (day workshops). Real workshops: 3-6 hours, learn wax application + dye + fabric, produce your own piece to take home. Cost 3000-8000 LKR depending on scale of your project. Not a factory tour - actually making. Kandy area has more workshop options than Colombo.

Also: many artist villages in the south (Aluthgama, Ambalangoda) have small workshops that welcome learners. Ask your chauffeur to find one - locally-known unadvertised options often best. Bring a fabric you want dyed or use theirs.
