Inside-the-walls private pool villas are limited (space constraint). Top options: (1) Amangalla (Aman - not private pool per room, but shared elegant pool, ultra-luxe). (2) Fort Bracegirdle Villa (private pool, boutique 4-room, USD 400-800/night). (3) Galle Fort Hotel (pool but shared). (4) The Frangipani Tree just outside Fort (private pool villas, USD 350-600/night). For private pool AND Fort location: Fort Bracegirdle is your best bet. Book direct.
Alternative: rent a whole boutique villa in Fort for 3-4 nights (some 4-6 bedroom heritage properties rent as full villas, USD 800-2000/night, private pool + full staff). Try Villa Sereno, Ambassador's House, House of Cinnamon. Best for larger anniversary groups.
