Colombo's top-tier chef restaurants 2026: (1) Nihonbashi (Chef Dharshan Munidasa's Japanese temple - kaiseki-style, USD 100-200 pp). (2) Ministry of Crab (Dharshan Munidasa - Sri Lankan seafood elevated, Asia's 50 Best listed). (3) Kaema Sutra (Chef Dharshan again - modern Sri Lankan tasting menu, USD 80-140 pp). (4) 7 Degrees North (Waters Edge - creative fine dining). (5) On14 (rooftop + tasting menu). (6) Nuga Gama (Cinnamon Grand - heritage village setting, traditional). None have Michelin stars (Michelin doesn't cover Sri Lanka yet) but these are the caliber.
Chef Dharshan Munidasa is Sri Lanka's most acclaimed - his three restaurants (Nihonbashi, Ministry of Crab, Kaema Sutra) are all worth booking. Reserve 2-4 weeks ahead. Kaema Sutra for elevated Sri Lankan is my top recommendation for tasting-menu experience.
