Colombo neighborhoods for 1 month expat stay: (1) Colombo 07 / Cinnamon Gardens - upscale, tree-lined, embassies, walkable, safest, USD 800-2000/month apartment. (2) Colombo 03 / Kollupitiya - central, walkable to Galle Face, high-rise living, USD 700-1800/month. (3) Colombo 05 / Havelock Town - middle-class residential, more local flavor, USD 500-1200/month. (4) Colombo 06 / Wellawatte - beachfront, Tamil culture heavy, more local, USD 400-1000/month. (5) Colombo 04 / Bambalapitiya - mixed, near sea, USD 600-1300/month. For upscale walk-everywhere: Cinnamon Gardens. For central + high-rise: Kollupitiya. For local budget: Wellawatte or Havelock.

Between Cinnamon Gardens for upscale walkable and Kollupitiya for central. Question specifically about Kollupitiya: is Galle Face Green safe for evening walks alone as a foreign woman? That's my daily wind-down and would decide between the two.

Practical: coliving spaces (Trove, Verse Collective) available too - included WiFi, cleaning, community events USD 800-1500/month total. Also LankaPropertyWeb + propertypages.lk for direct rentals. Book 1-2 weeks after arriving for best rates - much better than pre-booking.

Cinnamon Gardens has best cafe + restaurant scene for expats (Cafe Kumbuk, Whight & Co, Kopi Kade all here). Kollupitiya has best sea access + walking. Both walkable + safe evening. Wellawatte cheaper but less international feel. Havelock Town underrated for real local experience.
