Best day trips from Galle: (1) Mirissa + Coconut Tree Hill sunset (30 min - beach + iconic viewpoint). (2) Weligama surf + stilt fishermen (25 min). (3) Bentota + Madu River boat tour (90 min north - mangroves + spice islands + turtle hatchery). (4) Yala safari (2.5 hour drive east - full day if going, or overnight - not really a day trip). (5) Handunugoda Tea Estate + cinnamon tour (30 min - unique tea + spice). Best half-day: Mirissa + Coconut Tree Hill. Best full day: Handunugoda + Weligama + Mirissa combo.
Also: Kanneliya rainforest (1 hour - smaller than Sinharaja but accessible day trip) - guided nature walk 3-4 hours. Different from beach circuit. For rainforest day: Kanneliya. For coast day: Mirissa + Handunugoda combo.
