For serious astrophotography: Horton Plains area is Sri Lanka's darkest sky - book Heritance Tea Factory (near Nuwara Eliya) or nearby boutiques. Cool nights + high altitude + minimal light pollution. Combine with wildlife day trip. Bring: warm layers, tripod, wide-angle fast lens (f/2.8 or wider), remote shutter for long exposures.
