Sri Lanka best Kandyan dance show - Kandy or Colombo?
3 Answers from travellers
Kandy Cultural Centre / Red Cross Society Cultural Show (7pm nightly, ~1500 LKR) is the classic tourist show - Kandyan dancers, fire dancers, drummers, mask dances. Kandy is the traditional home of the dance form, so more authentic vibe. Colombo shows exist (some hotel dinner shows) but Kandy is the origin. Show is a compressed tourist-friendly presentation - not a full traditional performance but well-done and accessible. Kandy Lake Club and Kandy Cultural Centre both good options. Show runs about 1 hour.
For real deep dive: visit a Kandyan dance school (some do drop-in observations for a fee) or attend traditional temple events. But for a standard cultural evening while touring: Kandy Cultural Centre is the standard.
