Sri Lanka best kayak fishing tour operator - Kalpitiya lagoon?
3 Answers from travellers
Kayak fishing scene: (1) Kalpitiya Lagoon (Sri Lanka Kayak Fishing operates - flats fishing for barracuda, trevally, small tuna, USD 60-120 half day including kayak + gear). (2) Trincomalee bay - some emerging operators (Trincomalee Sport Fishing). (3) Negombo lagoon - traditional net fishing but sport kayak options growing. (4) Bolgoda Lake (near Colombo - freshwater bass fishing from kayak). Kalpitiya is best for flats + variety. Season Nov-April for calmest lagoon conditions. Bring your own rod/reel + tackle or rent - selection limited locally.
Booked 2-day kayak fishing package at Bar Reef for December. Bringing my own tackle since selection is limited. Will DM the operator to confirm my line class works there.
Also: kayak fishing charters + accommodation combos exist (Bar Reef Resort Kalpitiya, Kite House). 3-day fishing package USD 400-800 including boat + kayak + accommodation. Combines well with kite surfing season if you do both.
