Madu Ganga (near Balapitiya, south coast) is a mangrove river with excellent kayaking + boat tours. Traditional 2-hour boat tour with motor takes you through mangroves, small islands (cinnamon island, fish therapy, monastery on tiny island). Kayaking option: some operators offer guided kayak tours 2-3 hours through calmer channels - kid-friendly (kids in tandem with parents), 3000-5000 LKR per person. Combine boat + kayak. Bring sun protection, water shoes.
Also: monkey watching, fresh king coconuts on islands, water snake sightings occasional. Not adventure-sport kayaking, gentle exploration. Perfect for family morning. Book 1 day ahead through Bentota or Balapitiya.
