Sri Lanka best local artist studios visit - contemporary art scene?

Question: does Saskia Fernando Gallery typically arrange artist introductions if I'm interested in buying? Or do I just visit + pick without meeting the artist behind the work? Prefer meeting artists directly if possible.

For emerging artists + student work: University of the Visual + Performing Arts Colombo has student shows periodically. Free entry. Different quality tier than commercial galleries but energetic + fresh.

Colombo Art Biennale runs periodically (check dates 2026). Big contemporary showcase. Also worth: Beyond the Pale (design studio + gallery), Public Sri Lanka (interdisciplinary art space). Contemporary scene growing rapidly since 2015.
