Sri Lanka best mountain biking routes - hard-core trails?

Growing scene. Main areas: (1) Knuckles Range - technical descents through tea estates, forest trails, real challenge. (2) Nuwara Eliya area - single-track through tea and eucalyptus. (3) Hatton area - rolling hills, longer-distance rides. (4) Sinharaja edge trails - rainforest riding. Bikepacking is emerging - Colombo to Ella multi-day, or Knuckles loop. Operators: Adventure Sri Lanka MTB, Ceylon Bike Tours, Mountain Bike Adventures Ella. Rent quality bikes (they have Trek, Specialized rentals) or bring your own. Best months: Dec-Mar (dry, cool).
Also: the annual 'Rumble in the Jungle' MTB race happens in Knuckles - check dates for 2026-27. Serious international riders attend. If you can time your trip to it - dream. Multi-day 'traverse' routes emerging from Knuckles-Ella-Horton Plains-Nuwara Eliya.
