By wildlife density and diversity 2026: (1) YALA - highest leopard density world (also elephants, sloth bear rare, birds). Downside: crowded Block 1. (2) WILPATTU - largest park, best leopard 'quality' experience, sloth bears in season. (3) UDA WALAWE - elephants everywhere (herd density world-class), also water buffalo, birds. Compact/accessible. (4) MINNERIYA / KAUDULLA - annual elephant gathering (July-Oct - hundreds of elephants). (5) WASGAMUWA - jungle elephants, low tourist density. (6) HORTON PLAINS - montane wildlife, purple-faced langur, sambar. (7) BUNDALA - waterbirds, migratory. (8) KUMANA - birds + wilderness. (9) SINHARAJA - endemic species (rainforest, not typical park experience). Combine 3-4 parks for a comprehensive wildlife trip.

Best circuit for wildlife photography: Wilpattu (leopard) + Uda Walawe (elephants) + Minneriya/Kaudulla in gathering season + Sinharaja (endemics with bird guide). 8-10 day serious wildlife trip. Skip Yala unless leopard sighting checkbox required - Wilpattu delivers better experience.
