Molagoda (near Kegalle) is Sri Lanka's traditional pottery village - hundreds of pottery households, generational craft. Drop-in visits welcome; some households offer hands-on workshop (2-4 hours, 2500-5000 LKR) - learn wheel throwing and hand-building traditional shapes. Also: Nikawewa (Anuradhapura area), Kalutara (near south coast). For a full 'ceramic village' experience: Molagoda is the top pick. Buy pottery there at 40-60% below market prices.
Also: some traditional workshops now also teach kids - excellent family activity if you're traveling with children. Molagoda arranges half-day family workshops with tea and simple lunch included.
