(3) SunSail Sri Lanka (Trincomalee - smaller catamarans + sailboats). (4) Private captain arrangements with Trincomalee harbor operators. (5) Some multi-day sailing tours (Nilaveli → Pigeon Island → Uppuveli island hopping) 3-5 day charters. Season May-September for calm east coast conditions. Include: crew, meals, fuel, insurance. Add-ons: snorkeling gear, fishing tackle, water toys. Book 2-3 months ahead in peak season.

Best experience: full-day charter with snorkeling stop at Pigeon Island Marine Park + swim + gourmet lunch on board + sunset return. USD 600-1500 depending on yacht size. 4-6 guest sweet spot. Some captains do sail training - learn while you charter.

Looking at 3-day sailing package with Ceylon Yacht Charter for July. Question: are they OK with novice sailors or must all guests be sailing-experienced? I'd love some sail training as part of the experience, not just being a passenger.

For multi-day: Nilaveli to Kalpitiya coastal sailing possible (west + east coasts combined) but requires experienced crew - not standard offering. Talk to captains directly if interested. Also: yacht clubs in Colombo (Royal Colombo Yacht Club, Ceylon Motor Yacht Club) offer occasional charter arrangements.
