Barefoot (Colombo, multiple locations, Galle Fort) has best-known quality handloom sarongs and fabrics - Ena de Silva's design legacy, natural dyes, unique patterns. Prices USD 30-80 per piece. Also: Selyn Handlooms (Colombo shop or wholesale factory in Kurunegala), Rithihi (contemporary handloom), Nilanka Batiks. Skip: tourist market sarongs (often synthetic, poor dye, wear out fast). For genuine artisan piece: Barefoot is the safest quality-guaranteed source.
Also: Kandy Central Market has some good handlooms if you know what you're looking at - feel the fabric, examine dye consistency, check weave. If unsure, Barefoot is fool-proof. More expensive but lasts decades.
