For beginners considering 3-day silent: (1) Kanduboda Meditation Center (Delgoda, near Colombo - free, all facilities basic, Theravada style, need to apply). (2) Nilambe Buddhist Meditation Center (Kandy region - foreign-friendly, small groups, beginner-welcoming). (3) Bhavana Vidyalaya (Rukmale, near Colombo - some English guidance). Most Sri Lankan meditation centers assume Buddhist context but welcome all backgrounds. Free/donation-based typical. 10-day silent Vipassana (Goenka tradition at Dhamma Kuta) is more structured but 10 days is committed. 3-day is a gentler entry.

Also: Diyagala Boys Town Meditation Retreat (near Colombo) sometimes runs weekend silent retreats. And many established Ayurvedic resorts (Ulpotha, Santani) include meditation as part of their program with silence periods - a less-strict introduction to silent retreat culture.
