Best souvenirs: (1) Ceylon tea from a specific plantation (Handunugoda white tea, Pedro tea, single-estate loose leaf). (2) Handloom textiles from Barefoot (sarongs, cushion covers, table runners). (3) Cinnamon quills from a real plantation (Silva's Cinnamon Estate). (4) Ceylon cinnamon oil, cardamom, cloves in bulk from Kandy market. (5) Small ceremonial mask from Ariyapala Ambalangoda. (6) Wooden elephants from Kandy artisans (traditional carved, not painted tourist junk). (7) Ayurvedic products from Siddhalepa (their balm is iconic). (8) Coconut oil (cold-pressed) - flagship products. Skip: gems (buy only from NGJA-certified sources), Buddhist statuary (can't export freely), synthetic sarongs.

Also: Sri Lankan coffee (Kaldi's Roast, Second Wave Coffee), cashews (Mannar area premium), and if you have space, a small clay pot from Molagoda. Uniquely-Sri-Lankan gifts beat generic tourist trinkets every time.
