(2) Lipton's Seat (Haputale - drive to trailhead pre-dawn, tea and short cardamom-scented walk to viewpoint, small tea stall serves fresh 'plain tea' and dhal roti at 6:30am - unforgettable simple breakfast). (3) 98 Acres Resort breakfast terrace (Ella - hotel breakfast with valley view, non-guests can book breakfast slot 5000-8000 LKR). (4) Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliya lawn (colonial-era breakfast with racecourse views). (5) Sigiriya climb summit with packed breakfast at dawn (Sigiriya Village Hotel and other properties pack elaborate breakfast for climbers). (6) Ravana Rock Restaurant Ella terrace at dawn. For food + view: 98 Acres terrace or Lipton's Seat tea stall (opposite ends of the price/experience spectrum).
Lipton's Seat is my personal recommendation - drive from Haputale 5:30am, 15 min walk to viewpoint, sunrise at 6:15am. Small chai stall opens by 6am serving hot plain tea (100 LKR) and dhal roti (200 LKR). Sitting on stone with tea + roti + panoramic view across tea estates all the way to distant ocean = perfect Sri Lanka moment. Not fancy but transcendent. Bring cash - card doesn't work at village tea stall.
Pro tip: many Ella guesthouses will pack an elaborate breakfast (curries, sambols, hoppers, tea flask) for you to take to Little Adam's Peak or Ella Rock. Ask the night before. Cost: 1000-2500 LKR per person. Beats hotel dining room and gives you the sunrise + breakfast + view combo in one glorious morning.
