Good Market (Colombo) - Sri Lanka's flagship weekly farmers market:

  • Location: Racecourse Colombo (Cinnamon Gardens) every Sunday 8am-1pm.

  • Vendors: 60-100+ small-scale farmers + artisan food producers + organic + fair trade goods.

  • Highlights: organic vegetables + heritage rice + local coffee + honey + jams + preserves + baked goods + fresh juices + kombucha + natural cosmetics + handmade crafts.

  • Community vibe: expat + local + tourist crowd.

  • Prices: 20-40% above supermarket but authentic + traceable.

Follow @goodmarketcolombo Instagram for weekly vendor announcements.

For Sri Lankan food lovers: many small vendors sell prepared foods you can't get elsewhere - traditional sweets (kalu dodol, aluwa, weli thalapa), unusual pickles (achcharu), fermented products. Try before buying. Ask vendors about recipes + regional origins.

Practical: bring reusable shopping bag, cash (LKR - some vendors don't take cards), sun hat, water bottle. Best 8-10am (freshest selection, coolest). Vegetables best purchased first (delicate). Baked goods + preserves + crafts sturdy for later. Combine with post-market brunch nearby (Cafe Kumbuk within 10 min).

Other markets: Diyatha Uyana Sunday market (Battaramulla - lakeside setting, huge selection, more mainstream + local vendors, food court). Both markets great Sunday mornings - could hit both. Diyatha Uyana + Good Market = full Sunday morning Colombo local experience.
