Sri Lanka digital nomad visa 2026 - is it approved and processing?
3 Answers from travellers
Sri Lanka announced a digital nomad visa framework but as of early-mid 2026 formal processing is still limited. Current practical route: apply for 60-day tourist ETA, extend once at Battaramulla Immigration for 60 more days ($100 fee), then either short border run to Male/Chennai and re-enter, or apply for a longer residency visa via lawyer. For 3-6 months, the ETA + extension covers 4 months easily. For real long stay, engage a Colombo lawyer (~$500-1000) for a proper visa. Nomad hubs (Ahangama, Weligama, Colombo) are used to this pattern.
Also: nomad-focused coworking properties (Verse Collective in Ahangama, Trove Coliving) sometimes have visa support/advice for their guests. Ask before booking. Community is helpful.
