Sri Lanka in April Sinhala New Year - what closes and what stays open?

Sinhala/Tamil New Year is April 13-14, main days. What happens: shops, banks, most restaurants closed for 2-3 days around the new year, buses run reduced schedules, trains reduced. What stays open: tourist hotels, tourist restaurants, major sites (Sigiriya, temples). Beach areas are quieter. It's actually a beautiful time to see local culture - families in traditional dress, lighting oil lamps, ritual first-transactions. Not 'shut down' for tourists, just quieter.
Practical: stock cash before April 13 (banks and ATMs may be down 1-2 days). Book chauffeur ahead (drivers often want time off). Otherwise a lovely cultural window - hotels sometimes host traditional NYE events for guests.
