October is when I can go. Ruined?

October is transitional/inter-monsoon: south coast mostly cloudy with afternoon showers, occasional heavier rain, temperatures still warm. NOT ruined - many afternoons are usable, mornings often clear. Prices 30-40% below peak. What's ok: beach mornings, cultural sites, Ella hill country (variable), safari (works with rain gear). What's compromised: reliable beach lounging all day, whale watching (sea rough). Strategy: focus mornings for activities, expect afternoon rain, plan indoor backup.

Also: October has beautiful lush green everywhere - post-monsoon greenery is stunning for photography. Trade-off is real (some rain) but if you're flexible it's a fine month.
