Premium intercity coach services 2026: (1) SLTB (Sri Lanka Transport Board) Highway service - reliable Colombo-Kandy, Colombo-Galle, Colombo-Matara, Colombo-Jaffna routes, AC coaches, LKR 500-2500 depending on route. (2) Superline - private premium AC coach, similar routes, USD 8-25 per journey. (3) Reglines - private, slightly premium. (4) Overnight sleeper coaches on longer routes (Colombo-Jaffna, Colombo-Trinco). Book via BusMoni app or at Bastian Mawatha terminal (Colombo Fort). For Colombo-Kandy: Superline express 3 hours (vs. 4-5 for regular). Reserve 1 day ahead in peak season.
Overnight coach Colombo-Jaffna is a good budget option - 8-9 hours overnight travel with sleeper coach seats, saves a hotel night, USD 15-25. For daytime intercity comfort: Superline AC coach is the standard middle-class option.
