Sri Lanka packing list essentials - what do people forget?
3 Answers from travellers
Commonly forgotten: rain jacket (light, packable - random showers even in dry season), sarong (buy on arrival - useful for temples, beach, cover-up), reef-safe sunscreen SPF 50 (imports expensive), DEET repellent 30%+, hand sanitizer, small first aid kit (Imodium, ORS, ibuprofen), power adapter (Sri Lanka uses UK-style Type G + Type D + Type M - a Type D/G adapter covers most), UK-plug USB charger, headlamp (power cuts happen), water bottle with filter (Grayl or LifeStraw).
Also: quick-dry towel, dry bag for beach days, a scarf/pashmina (temples + AC restaurants + cool hill country evenings), spare passport photos (extending visas or SIM). Don't overpack clothes - laundry is cheap ($3-5 per bag) and quick.
