Onboard vendors sell fresh vadai (lentil fritters), samosas, roti with dhal, biscuits, hot tea in small cups. Safe if it's hot and fresh (turnover is fast). Prices very cheap (100-300 LKR per snack). Meals at station stops (Nanuoya, Haputale) - can hop off for 5 minutes for hot lunch at platform stalls. Bring water. First class Observation Saloon has separate snack cart with higher prices.

Bring your own supplement: fruit (bananas, apples), packet biscuits, water bottle. On a 6-hour ride you'll appreciate variety. Onboard food is fine but limited.
