Sri Lanka train from CMB airport - is there a direct one?
3 Answers from travellers
No direct train inside the airport, but Katunayake Airport Railway Station is a 10-min taxi/tuk-tuk from CMB terminal. From there, direct trains to Colombo Fort (45 min, ~150 LKR) and connecting services onwards. Not the most convenient with luggage - schedules infrequent, station basic. Most tourists take PickMe or hotel car to Colombo directly (45-60 min drive). Train from airport only makes sense if you're heading straight north-bound or want the experience.
For train enthusiasts: land at CMB, take tuk-tuk to Katunayake station (15 min), train to Colombo Fort, transfer to Kandy or Galle train same afternoon. Works but exhausting after long flight.
