Sri Lanka Uber vs PickMe 2026 - which app to install?
3 Answers from travellers
PickMe is primary - developed for Sri Lanka, works nationwide (major cities + towns), has tuk-tuks in addition to cars, foreign cards accepted since 2024. Uber operates but geographically limited (mainly Colombo + Kandy + airport pickup), fewer drivers, no tuk-tuks. For a Sri Lanka trip: install PickMe as your main app, Uber as backup for Colombo only. PickMe surge pricing in rain and rush hour, but generally 40-60% cheaper than street tuk-tuks.
Also: Kangaroo Cabs is a legacy Sri Lankan taxi service via phone, still operating - good backup if apps fail. But 95% of tourists just use PickMe. Set it up before you fly with your foreign card.
