Sri Lanka with a 10 month old baby realistic or wait until she is older

Realistic and many families do it. Practical realities: international-brand diapers (Pampers, Huggies) are widely available in Cargills, Keells and pharmacies in cities and tourist towns; baby formula (Nestle, Lactogen, Anchor) is also widely sold; baby food jars are stocked in larger supermarkets but limited variety, so consider bringing a starter supply for the first week. CAR SEATS are NOT standard in Sri Lankan vehicles, including chauffeur cars. You MUST request a car seat in advance from your chauffeur agency (most can arrange it for ~10-15 USD/day) or bring your own. The climate is fine for babies if you keep her cool, well-hydrated, in shade, and use baby-safe sunscreen and mosquito repellent (DEET-free for under 2). Choose AC accommodation and avoid the hottest dry-zone afternoons. AVOID for an under-1: bumpy long drives, very spicy food experiments, packed buses, jet ski / boat trips with significant sun exposure.
Best regions for babies: the south coast (especially calmer bays like Bentota for swimmable water), the cooler hill country (around Ella, but skip Nuwara Eliya, the cold nights are rough for babies), and the Cultural Triangle in moderation. Skip Sigiriya rock summit, Adams Peak, long safari days.
Sri Lankans absolutely adore babies and you will get smiles and offers of help everywhere. Mine got passed around in temple courtyards by elderly aunties; it was beautiful.
Pack: pediatric paracetamol, ORS sachets, a thermometer, a baby-specific 30+ SPF, a UPF rashie/swim shirt, and Sudocrem or equivalent for nappy rash (humidity = more rashes).
Going for it. Booking a chauffeur with a car seat, AC accommodation, south coast plus Ella. Thank you!
