Better to put standing shoes on now after early dinner, or change at the last minute so feet stay happier upstairs. Not spare outdoor flip-flops for puddles, and not air-dry checks on damp socks.

Many families dress standing shoes after early dinner, then rest feet upstairs in socks until shoes-on leave-by — whatever reduces last-minute hunting.
