Can we do a sunset yoga flow on the beach in Tangalle, head out for some beach club cocktails, and then go to the Rekawa turtle sanctuary late at night to see the nesting mothers.

You can definitely enjoy sunset yoga and get drinks, but you must be completely sober, quiet, and respectful for the Rekawa turtle watch. The conservation project requires visitors to wait patiently in the dark until volunteers locate a nesting mother. Loud voices, stumbling, or using flashlights will terrify the endangered turtles and force them back into the ocean without laying their eggs.

For your sunset yoga, try setting up near Goyambokka beach. The rock formations there make for a stunning backdrop as the sun goes down.

The Rekawa project is incredible. You sit on the beach under the stars for hours just listening to the waves until the guides give the signal.

Tangalle is not a massive rave hub like Mirissa or Ahangama. The nightlife is much more relaxed, but places like The Lounge make fantastic cocktails to enjoy before you head to the sanctuary.

Under no circumstances should you use flash photography on the turtles. It temporarily blinds them and completely ruins their nesting process. The guides use special red lights.
