I am visiting the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. What are the strict rules for photography inside, specifically regarding the Buddha statues.

Photography is allowed in most areas of the temple without flash. However, the golden rule in Sri Lanka is that you MUST NOT take a photo with your back turned to any Buddha statue. Posing for a selfie with a statue behind you is deeply offensive and police will force you to delete it or remove you from the premises.

Also, you cannot photograph the actual golden casket holding the tooth relic when the doors open during the Pooja. Guards will shout at you.
