The 'no Buddha photo' thing - any Buddha, or just selfies with?

Confused. Some websites say no Buddha photos ever. Others say photos yes, selfies no. What's the actual rule?

Photos of Buddha statues in general = usually fine. Selfies WITH Buddha (turning your back on the statue, or posing with it) = deeply disrespectful and can get you arrested (people have been). The distinction: reverent photos = ok, self-in-frame photos = never. Also never point feet at Buddha (sitting with soles toward image). Some inner sanctums (Dambulla caves, Temple of Tooth) restrict all photography - signs are clear. If in doubt at a specific site, ask a monk.

^ this. Also: Buddha tattoos are a huge issue if visible. Cover any tattooed Buddha imagery at all sites and in some places at airport too. People have been deported at CMB for visible Buddha tattoos. Serious topic.
