The Toluvila ruins are a magnificent, highly secluded ancient monastery complex. They are located very close to the Anuradhapura railway station, slightly outside the main ticketed archaeological zone.

Because it is outside the main park, there is absolutely no entrance fee to explore the Toluvila ruins. You can easily wander through the silent, shaded pathways alone, admiring the beautiful ancient architecture and stone carvings completely free of charge and free of crowds.
