Tourist SIM throttled hard after about 10GB — top up the same number or buy a second SIM?

Dialog tourist pack flew for a week of maps and uploads, then crawled. Hotspot for a laptop made it worse. Can I buy more data on the same SIM at a shop, or is a second cheap SIM the cleaner fix for the second week? Not asking for secret unlimited plans — just what travelers actually do.

Topping up or adding a data reload on the same tourist SIM often works if the pack allows it — ask the shop or app what reload fits your number before you buy a second. A second SIM is the cleaner split when you want a dedicated hotspot line or the first pack is awkward to extend. Keep the first number alive for OTPs if you can. Speeds vary by tower and time of day; throttle-after-fair-use is a known tourist-pack pattern. I will not invent GB prices — check the counter board or official app the day you buy.

Bought a second cheap SIM for hotspot week two. Kept the first for calls. Problem solved.

Trying a data reload on the same number today; second SIM if the shop shrugs.

Maps ate my data too. Reload at a proper shop beat random street sellers.
