Want a train toward Ella Monday morning after First Randoli. Any realistic same-day seats left, or is private van the only option. Not last mid-afternoon train into Kandy before the start, and not early Kandy-Colombo train realism alone.

Festival week seats toward Ella often sell out — check the counter or app before you release the Kandy hotel. If none are left, a shared van or private car is the practical backup. Do not stand on the platform hoping for a miracle seat.
