Traveling during a big international cricket match - what to expect?
There's a big match during my trip. Will it affect transport, hotels, or the general atmosphere?

Sri Lankans are passionate about cricket. On match days, especially important ones, transport can be busier as people travel to watch or celebrate. Hotels in Colombo and near the stadium can fill up. The atmosphere in towns with big screens or fan zones is electric and fun. If you're not interested, it might be slightly more chaotic in some areas, but it's generally good-natured. Book transport and accommodation a bit earlier if your dates overlap with a major match.
Many restaurants and bars put on big screens. It's a great cultural experience if you enjoy the energy, even if you don't follow cricket.
