Sri Lanka post-2004 established the Disaster Management Centre with advanced early-warning: coastal siren networks, radio/TV alerts, SMS to registered mobiles. Practical: at any beachfront hotel, note the tsunami evacuation route (posted in rooms). If ground shakes strongly OR you notice sea receding unusually far — move to high ground immediately (don't wait for siren).

Evacuation zones: coastal roads flat, high ground reached inland or via elevated hotels. Realistic risk: very low for typical trip. Most beach hotels 200m+ inland or elevated to 3+ floors precisely due to 2004 learning. Awareness better than fear.
